Three things are certain in life: death, taxes, and it’ll be a while before we see James Bond on the big screen again. Fortunately, while the studio and producers take their time deciding which actor will be next to drive the Aston Martin, fans of the iconic franchise have a far better way to spend their days: by staying at the place where Ian Fleming started it all.
To celebrate 60 years of 007, the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica has developed a new experience that will yet again make guests feel as much like the world’s greatest gentleman superspy, short of having death-defying car and airplane chases through the snowy mountains of Austria. Instead, the anniversary package will feel far more like the endings of most Bond movies when he’s relaxing somewhere tropical after saving the world. (It obviously won’t be like the end of No Time to Die.)
The experience begins with an arrival cocktail, a bottle of Bollinger Champagne, and a flask of Blackwell Rum, which is a gift from GoldenEye’s owner and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, who is a lifelong Bond fan who was fortunate enough to have lunches with Fleming as a child. But the centerpiece of this experience is the five-bedroom villa in which the author wrote his classic novels. Travelers should act fast, though, as booking only runs through December 14 for stays through December 19.
Located just 20 minutes from Ocho Rios, GoldenEye offers guests a secluded experience with beautiful private beaches, hidden coves, and a saltwater lagoon—it’s impossible to not understand why Fleming found this spot so inspirational. But it’s not always about Bond here, as the resort boasts four dining options and the recently expanded FieldSpa. There are also several other accommodations, including beach and lagoon villas, as well as Blackwell’s favorite, the beach huts.
In fact, guests not looking for the 007 vibes should consider the Hut Life experience, which includes a stay in a beach hut for four nights at the price of three, and they should be sure to choose one with a claw foot tub in a private garden for a truly sensational soak. There’s also the Two-Post Outpost deal, for which guests will stay at both GoldenEye and Strawberry Hill in the amazing Blue Mountains. Each leg of the trip has its own perks, highlighted a guided coral reef snorkeling excursion.
