Able to accommodate as many as 930 guests, Mars is a bit on the smaller side, which means it can visit some destinations that other, larger ships can’t. Best of all, there’s a greater attention to detail and luxury, as regular guests will readily admit is one of the best aspects of this brand—right up there with the phenomenal, curated itineraries.

The included excursions are well thought out, celebrating the culture and activities of each city. During the Viking Homelands cruise itinerary on the Viking Mars, the 15-day voyage begins in Stockholm and goes on to visit Aland Islands in Finland, Gdansk in Poland, Bornholm in Denmark, Berlin in Germany, Copenhagen and Aalborg in Denmark, and multiple ports in Norway (Oslo, Stavanger, Eidfjord and Bergen).

What to Expect on Board

All journeys begin with the accommodations, and guests will have no shortage of beautiful views since every luxurious guest room has a balcony, which makes for unforgettable moments while sipping coffee in the morning or admiring the sunset after a long day of exploring. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, always willing to bring you what you need or make your stay more relaxed. The rooms are sizable, with comfortable beds, plenty of storage for clothing, a big bathroom, and lots of space to move around.

The Mars has so many great amenities, including a hair salon, high end fitness center, shops throughout the boat, the Nordic Spa with its own private pool (in addition to an infinity pool), bars, and a rooftop pool. And then there are the premium dining options, including specialty restaurants like Manfredi’s Italian Restaurant for incredible crisp calamari, shrimp and linguine, and bone in ribeye with wine pairings and The Chef’s Table with master sommeliers and culinary experts curating a tasting menu for guests. For an educational experience, the Kitchen Table is an interactive culinary school and a wonderful way for guests to learn from the greats.

As for the Nordic Spa, there is a wide variety of treatments available, in addition to a steam room, sauna, and even a snow grotto. As you’re traveling to each port, you can enjoy the offerings of the spa, watch live singers, bands, performances, discussions, or grab an incredible espresso martini at the bar.

Into the Cities

In addition to the included excursions and activities that give you a taste of the city, guests generally have plenty of time to explore on their own. However, for an elevated experience, the paid excursions offer something more intimate and unique.

In Stockholm, start with the Swedish meatballs before ordering a banana, curry, and ham pizza so you’re full ahead of the Viking tour, “Old Town by Foot,” on which the group will discover highlights in Gamla Stan. During the Panoramic Mariehamn Tour in Mariehamn, Åland Islands, try the black salt licorice candies that are made in house and still warm, or enjoy a gin sample and snacks during the Tastes of Aland after walking through the Huvudfästet and Kastelholm Castle.

After sailing the Swedish coast, the boat docks in Gdańsk, Poland, where guests can discover why the city is known for amber jewelry and goods, stunning architecture, and incredible food and drinks. Guests are invited to “Discover Culinary and Precious Treasures of Gdańsk,” through which they’ll meet an Amber Specialist, make their own pierogies before sitting down as a group to taste them, explore the old town by foot, and taste Goldwasser, a liqueur made in Gdańsk that dates to 1598.

Next up, Bornholm, Denmark with a tour through Viking of the local fishing village and Nylars Church. A quick stop to explore the city and the architecture and then on to Germany.

The boat anchors in Warnemünde with options to explore the nearby area of Warnemünde or travel by train to Berlin (about two hours each way). You can take a tour or do “Berlin Your Way,” mapping out your route for shopping, taking in the local public art and murals, and trying local foods like currywurst at Curry 61. You’re escorted by a guide throughout the entire train process that brings you to the city center. There, you’ll board a bus to take in iconic sights that can’t be missed when visiting the city like the Reichstag Building, Brandenburg Gate, Jewish Memorial, Berlin Wall, and more before giving you a meeting point and letting you enjoy hours of free time in the city.

The next stop is Copenhagen, Denmark. The bright colors along the canal, smell of waffle cones baking in the air, and friendly people exploring the city by foot and by bike bring all the good vibes on a sunny Denmark day. After walking along the canal, stop into Vaffelbageren Nyhavn to try black licorice ice cream on one of their famous waffle cones on your walk to the Little Mermaid Statue.

For a light lunch, Løgismose Vin, Mad & Delikatesser has plenty of small plates to go that you can share like freshly made spreadable salmon salad and duck pate with crisp baked bread. The Copenhagen Food Lover’s Tour offered as a paid excursion through Viking is an incredible way to discover the local cuisine, from chocolates, cheese, and liqueur, to herring and Smørrebrød. If you’re a foodie, this tour is a must!

After one more quick stop in Ålborg, Denmark, to explore the city discovered by Vikings in the 900s and visiting the Old Town, Ålborghus Castle, Utzon Center, and Vor Frue Kirke, the ship sets sail for Norway, starting with an overnight in Oslo. Explore the first port in Norway through the “Oslo Highlights and Vigeland Park,” included through Viking. See important sights like City Hall, the National Theater, Royal Palace, Holmenkollen ski jump, and more before a guided walk through Vigeland Park to view the sculptures.

With extra time in Oslo, Norway, check out the saunas, which, when combined with a cold plunge, are a valuable tradition in Scandinavian culture, not only for health benefits, but for socialization. Right where the boat docks, you’re a short walk from Kok, floating saunas where you can plunge into the fjord. It’s an incredible experience that will leave you relaxed—and probably with a few new friends. After, grab drinks and a bite to eat at Salt.

When the boat docks in Stavanger, Norway, the “Taste of Stavanger” tour is a great way to learn about the local food and culture. Take it one step further with Viking’s “The Kitchen Table” tour, on which guests can actually explore local grocery stores, butchers, and food markets to collect high quality meats, cheeses, fish, and other ingredients, while learning about the food culture and tasting treats along the way. When you get back to the ship, you’ll have some time to relax and unwind before meeting for an intimate dining experience that brings all the ingredients you collected to life.

Get ready for the most incredible views in Eidfjord, Norway. During the “Viking Excursion: Vøringsfossen Waterfall and Eidfjord Cruise,” drive through the charming village to Vøringfossen Waterfall. The 550-foot natural landmark on Måbødalen Canyon is an amazing sight to see, and you’ll even have time to grab a cup of coffee and walk around to really appreciate every angle of the gorge. After exploring the village, the group will board a catamaran to get panoramic views of the fjord. When you return, stop into Vik Bakeri for some sweets.

The last stop is in Bergen, Norway, well-known for fish markets where visitors and locals can buy fresh shellfish, caviar, fish, and prepared foods. Everyone can indulge in chowders, local fish cakes, oysters, and more before exploring the town by foot on their own or on a variety of excursions, including “A Taste of Bergen.” Browse through the local fish market to try a variety of delicacies after walking through the town with a local guide.

Bring an Ambitious Appetite

When it comes to culinary excellence, the staff is incredibly attentive, memorizing your needs and preferences. There were carefully selected wine pairings at dinner, and the dining experience on board really stands out. Many cruises focus on variety in a sense of having 24-hour, all you can eat buffets; however, the Riverside Mozart is more about quality than quantity—for example, creating a selection of flavored butters displayed like a work of art, paired with fresh breads that change nightly, like their green olive ciabatta bread.

Meals include a starting dish like the Beetroot Tomato Tartare with quail egg and potato paper and the Wild Garlic Soup, and the mains and desserts like the Slow Roasted Lamb Shank with shallots, balsamic flavored gravy, thyme, garlic mashed potatoes, olive oil, and roasted vegetables, followed by the Passion Fruit Mousse Tartlet with coconut praline are full of flavor, colors, and textures. The culinary team does a beautiful job of picking dishes that celebrate the cities, working in dishes like crispy wiener schnitzel, crayfish, sachertorte, and seasonal asparagus soup to name a few.

Guests should not miss out on the homemade pasta dishes each evening. They’re always willing to do half portions, so you have a taste and still order a main dish. During the day there’s a café that has fresh fruit, sweets, charcuterie, cheeses, smoked fishes, soft pretzels, and breads, and more so you have something to pick at if you’re hungry. For a special evening, The Vintage Room offers a private dining experience that accommodates up to 12 people, delivering a 7-course dining experience with wine pairings.

The main dining area, Waterside Restaurant, has an amazing breakfast buffet full of fresh smoothies, green juices, cheeses, meats, eggs, French toast, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, bacon, and more. For lunch, it varies. On certain days, the Blue Deli serves a paired down lunch menu consisting of soups, burgers, salads, sausages, and lighter bites, while other days there are rooftop cookouts on the deck, where they serve giant grilled prawns, steak, potatoes, salads, spreads, pasta, and other delicious dishes.

Where You’re Going

Riverside Mozart specifically sails along the Danube River, with cruise itineraries ranging from several days to a few weeks. For the weeklong itinerary, this cruise began in Budapest, Hungary, and ended in Vienna, Austria. The ship offers incredible tours, celebrating each destination’s culture, food, and architecture while leaving room for guests to explore the area on their own. The ship even has 30 bikes on board that you can rent to cover more ground.

Budapest

Our tour began in Budapest, where the company offered a walking exploration of the Buda Side and Castle District, complete with an afternoon walk to take in the stunning architecture and a local guide. Guests can expect to see landmarks like the Matthias church and Royal Palace, among others. If you still have time to explore the city or prefer to explore on your own for the entire day, be sure to check out the local foods.

The Central Market Hall, Nagyvásárcsarnok is in the city center and filled with vendors selling stuffed cabbage, goulash, sausage, cheeses, salami, pickles, sajitos, and more. Be sure to visit one of the local bathhouses like the Szechenyi Thermal Bath for a soak and take a walk over to Szimpla Kert, one of the many ruin bars in Budapest with mismatched furniture, plants, art, and graffiti covering the walls.

Next door is the outdoor food vendor garden, Street Food Karavan Budapest, selling traditional dishes like goulash and chimney cake.

Bratislava

Through the Riverside Mozart, guests can book a walking tour in Bratislava, ending with a Slovakian beer tasting—a great way to explore the city! Throughout the tour through Bratislava, the guide showed us historical sites and local shops, pointing out colorful buildings and unique architecture.

We ended at Kolostor Sörfőzde (Kláštorný pivovar) where the group tasted Slovakian beers with a snack of meats, cheeses, and pickled veggies. We added on an order of bryndzove halusky, a traditional dish consisting of small potato dumplings coated in sheep cheese and topped with crispy bacon that melts in your mouth.

While in town, take a walk over to The Blue Church – Church of St. Elizabeth and stop by the Man at Work, Čumil statue for good luck (simply rub the button on his hat). The Most SNP, nicknamed the UFO Bridge spans across the Danube, so be sure to take a look while sailing out of the city.

Vienna

The Vienna panoramic drive and walking tour is a fantastic way to see and do a lot in a short amount of time. Explore the capital, Volksgarten, and palaces along the way, with some free time at the St. Stephen’s Cathedral to see the impressive gothic architecture and browse through the vendors and artists surrounding the church, selling everything from pretzel bread to handmade crafts and goods for souvenirs.

Stop into Aida for a Viennese malange coffee and sachertorte, before heading to the Naschmarkt to try wiener schnitzel, fresh oysters, baked goods, olives, tin fish, cheeses, and other Austrian treats. In the afternoon, the ship has a tour of Schloss Schonbrunn (Schönbrunn Palace), where the Habsburg rulers summered.

Grein

The Proud Fortress Greinburg Tour through Riverside brought the group up to Greinburg Castle, with stunning views of the Danube from above. The castle was built between 1488 and 1495, so there’s plenty of history behind the walls. Explore the corridors to discover rooms like the stone theater covered in pebbles from the river or the diamond vault. After the tour, walk down through the city to get some ice cream and take a bike ride around Grein.

Linz

Linz is more of an industrial city, quite busy with plenty of shopping, cafés, and restaurants where you can try the Linzertorte, which is a short cake base with a pastry, shell, nuts, lemon, and cinnamon. Although Linz is beautiful and certainly worth checking out, there is a full day Mozart Salzburg expedition offered through Riverside Mozart.

The trip provides transportation to and from Salzburg, a tour of the area where you can see Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s home, Fortress Hohensalzburg, UNESCO world heritage sites, The Cloak of Conscience and Tolerance statue, cathedrals, Friedhof Salzburg (St. Sebastian) cemetery, and plenty of scenes from the Sound of Music before exploring the town on your own. Visitors can taste local beer and Salzburger Nockerl (a triple peak soufflé with raspberry sauce) at Restaurant Stiegl-Keller and get some strudel at Cafe Würfel Zucker before shopping for souvenirs.

Melk and Dürnstein

On the last day of the trip, the boat will stop in two destinations: Melk and Dürnstein. The Baroque Wonder Melk Abbey in the Wachau Valley is a must see and the ship offers a tour of this incredible landmark. Browse through the Abbey, exploring the library and the church that is so magnificent it will take your breath away.

Travel further through the Wachau Valley before docking at Dürnstein to explore the town, searching for apricot treats like Wachauer marillenknödel, a traditional dish with a full local apricot tucked into dough, cooked, and then coated in buttery breadcrumbs and served with ice cream. The area is known for its wine, so after exploring the cobblestone streets to shop for apricot liquors and souvenirs, stop into Weingut Böhmer to taste some local wine. Exploring the Danube River with Riverside Mozart is such a treat. You can take mixology classes, listen to live music, or enjoy fine dining while sailing steadily and calmly to the next destination.

A trip to the Galápagos has long been the epitome of a bucket list experience, as it gives travelers the chance to observe marine and land animals in a pure environment. That said, planning a trip to the Galápagos can be a little intimidating, what with the paperwork, coordinating transportation, and choosing the right boat for the trip. Good news, though: working with a company like INCA (International Nature and Cultural Adventures) can help ease a lot of those stressors because they take care of everything for you.

The experts at INCA pride themselves on their ability to perfect a detailed itinerary for people looking to travel to the Galapagos and get the most out of their trip. For many, this is a once in a lifetime dream vacation, so it’s important to fit in everything you want to do and see. Getting There

INCA assists all guests going on board the Integrity in either Quito or Guayaquil with a quick overnighter to make sure everyone is on the mainland, ready to take the flight to Baltra the following day. After an overnight stay in Hotel Wyndham Guayaquil (or similar accommodations in Quito) an INCA team member will pick you up from the lobby and transport you to the airport where you will fly with EQUAIR into the Baltra airport in the Galapagos Islands.

Upon arrival, Integrity travelers will relax in the VIP lounge while the baggage is checked and cleared. Next, the group heads into the national park, where a bus takes everyone to the Itabaca Canal to board a small boat to the highlands in Santa Cruz. The wildlife discovery and tours begin the day you arrive, starting with the giant tortoises and exploring the Charles Darwin Research Station.

In addition to some fun activities on the first day, the group will try on wetsuits before enjoying a quick lunch in town with waterfront views of sea lions, pelicans, baby sharks, marine iguanas, and colorful crabs. After a day of adventure, the group will board the boat for the first time that is anchored in Academy Bay.

Before you unpack, the naturalist will go through what the tour is going to look like, what you can expect to see, safety, briefings, and room assignments. From there, after dinner, you’ll have plenty of time to unpack and relax, letting the boat rock you to sleep. The Eastern Island itinerary that they set up definitely packs in a lot of activity from hiking, swimming, kayaking, climbing, and more, keeping you feeling great throughout the trip.

What’s on Board

The Integrity is a luxury yacht that is the centerpiece of a customized experience that can host as many as 16 people. INCA and this vessel collaborate to give guests the best accommodations in addition to the adventure-packed itineraries. Each room boasts its own bathroom and plenty of space to move around, in addition to powerful air conditioning, which is wonderful to come back to you after a day of hiking. There are also TVs so you can put on a movie to fall asleep to at the end of the evening.

The dining room is elegant, and you get to take in views of the islands or the ocean as you enjoy healthy meals like fresh fish and homemade soups. The top deck has plenty of space for lounging and relaxing, in addition to a hot tub to unwind in at the end of the evening. They also offer laundry services for all guests, which is great if you’re trying to pack light and want to re-wear some pieces.

In addition to providing a luxurious place to stay and rest as you travel through the Galápagos Islands, the staff cares a lot about sustainability and the environment. The company separates waste into recyclable objects, non-recyclable objects, hazardous material, and organic items. The staff is even trained to understand environmental issues.

The crew is also passionate about creating healthy dishes, with plenty of fresh vegetables, beans, mashed potatoes, lean red meat, fresh fish, chicken, and desserts like fresh fruit with a sprinkle of chocolate. The breakfast buffet offers scrambled eggs, waffles, pancakes, fruit (like fresh papaya), sausage, bacon, plenty of juices, and cereals. The lunches are nice and light, similar to dinners, generally with lean protein and fresh veggies, with some kind of carb to keep you fueled and feeling great for the next adventure.

The itinerary will vary a bit based on the destination—this particular trip reflects stops along the Eastern Route—but expect early wake-up calls to seize the day before the heat gets too strong. Generally, the day starts around 5:30 AM with breakfast at 6 AM, heading out for activities bright and early. Each day consists of at least one hike and snorkel, in addition to other activities. In the evening, the group has dinner together, and the naturalist will go over what is to be expected the next day. He explains what the terrain is like, what to expect during the hike, what animals you might see, how long it will take, and he is more than happy to address any comments or questions you have.

Where You’ll Go

Santa Cruz Island: Exploring the Rainforest Highlands means unpredictable weather, so plan to have protection for your camera gear, a raincoat or poncho, and proper footwear for the day you arrive. Santa Cruz is the place to see a wide variety of plant species and tortoises snacking on guava and passionfruit. After seeing the tortoises, the group will head to Puerto Ayora to have lunch before visiting the Charles Darwin Research Center. With a day of exploring in the books, you’ll head onto the yacht to settle in for the evening, go through the safety briefing, and talk about the upcoming adventures.

Española: On day two of the eastern itinerary, you’ll stop in Española, particularly Gardner Bay in the morning. This area has a beautiful, white sand beach with crystal clear bright teal water. You’ll see plenty of seals lounging in the sun or running towards the water. After walking along the beach, guests will then prepare for the first snorkel. This is more of a low-key snorkel in a very calm area, so that the naturalist can gauge how strong of a swimmer the group members are and give you a taste of what you can expect to see coming up. We also played with a group of seals and saw plenty of colorful fish and turtles.

Later in the day, you will stop in Punta Suárez for a hike over rocky terrain to spot sea birds. This is your time to see the waved albatross birds, that can be observed between April and November. There’s even a chance to see their famous mating dance. This is also a great opportunity to see marine iguanas and other colorful birds like blue footed boobies.

San Cristóbal: The morning begins with a trip to Punta Pitt, a small beach that leads to a climbing hike to spectacular views of the island where you might get the chance to see all three booby birds, in addition to other wildlife. You can see mountain goats strolling along the hilltops, while down on the beach, seals play in the water with you while you take a dip after the hike to cool off.

After a morning hike, the group will get ready for a snorkeling adventure. Anything can happen, from playing with seals to swimming through schools of colorful fish. Guests will also have a little downtime before heading back to the boat for lunch and setting sail for Cerro Brujo. From there, the group takes a walk on the coral sand beach, watching shore birds dive down rapidly to catch fish while the sun sets in the distance.

Santa Fé and South Plaza: In the morning we arrived at Santa Fé to go for a hike on a white beach covered with sea lions and iguanas. We observed the Opuntia cactus and discovered many creatures before heading out to snorkel in the turquoise waters with plenty of fish, sharks, turtles, and more. There’s also an opportunity to kayak in the morning, and those who don’t want to kayak can explore the cliffs along the shore from the panga boat. In the afternoon, the boat anchors in South Plaza, where we see seven more land iguanas and a variety of birds, including the legendary finches.

Genovesa: In the morning, the group stops at Darwin Beach to explore the bird species. The beach appeared due to a sunken crater, and it is covered with a wide variety of birds from herons and warblers to red footed boobies and frigatebirds with the red pouch puffed up. The group will snorkel at least once a day, playing with seals and looking for hidden gems in all the cracks and crevices of the rocks and reefs for lobsters, eels, and other surprises.

We visited two snorkeling spots in this location, one that generally has hammerhead and Galapagos sharks, as well as huge schools of rays in deep water, and another location with much calmer water with fish, sea turtles, and other marine life. In the afternoon, the group hikes up Prince Phillip’s Steps to see colonies of booby birds—look for short-eared owls and watch the storm petrels whip through the air in the Palo Santo Forest.

Santiago and Bartolomé: In the morning, the group stops at Sullivan Bay in Santiago to explore the young lava flow and rock formations. After the hike, head out for the first snorkel of the day, where you can potentially see seals fishing in the water, white tip reef sharks, and maybe even some Galapagos penguins. In the afternoon, the boat anchors at Bartolomé, right near the famous Pinnacle Rock. A panga ride is next, on which you can see penguins along the shore before hiking to the very top of the island to take an incredible view of the bay, Santiago Island, Daphne Major and Minor, and of course, the sunset.

Rábida and Sombrero Chino: On Rábida, the day begins very early, as the group lands on a red beach first thing in the morning. As the lagoon came into view, speckles of hot pink appeared all throughout the water. There were so many bright, beautiful flamingos in the lagoon, in addition to incredible plant life.

The day was full of snorkeling excursions, where the group found a variety of stunning fish like the hieroglyphic hawkfish and the scorpion fish, among other marine life like sea turtles, white tip reef sharks, seals, and much more. In the afternoon, the boat anchored in the turquoise waters of Sombrero Chino. The snorkeling there is phenomenal, with turtles, eels, huge schools of fish, and other surprises.

We were extremely lucky to swim with Galapagos penguins, as they darted and dived around us, catching fish. We laughed joyfully underwater, taking it all in. It was the perfect way to end our snorkeling adventures. The day ends with a walk on the beach, taking views of the lava rock, before heading to Baltra to disembark the following day. With so many beautiful places to explore on this planet, the Galapagos Islands make for a truly special destination.

The bold wildlife, with seals looking you in the eye, blue footed booby birds walking with the group along the trail, penguins darting in front of you underwater, just as curious about you, as you are of them. Ultra-luxury cruise line Seabourn is elevating its 24-hour in-suite dining menus with an enhanced and extensive array of elegantly presented gourmet dishes, curated by the line’s team of highly skilled chefs.

The new menus will debut on Seabourn Venture’s June 18, 2023 voyage, and will extend to the line’s fleet of intimate, yacht-like ships by October 2023.

The new menu includes lighter and fresher vegetarian and vegan dishes, such as Rustic Garden Vegetable Minestrone a la Genovese, Franck’s Riviera Style Vegetable Tartine, and “Fregola con Melanzane” Sardinian Tomato Fregola Pasta & Oven Roasted Purple Eggplant Confit. There will also be classic and traditional dishes with a twist, including Crispy Skin Fresh Alaskan Salmon Fillet, Thyme Roasted Jidori Chicken Breast, and Oven Roasted Free Range Chicken Sausage Casserole. In addition, there will be new dessert options to satisfy the sweet tooth, such as Tony’s Childhood Banana Split and Black Forest Sundae.

The new in-suite dining menus were developed in partnership with Master Chef and Culinary Consultant Chef Anton Egger, and Senior Corporate Chef Franck Salein.

Around 31.5 million people are expected to go on a cruise this year. With cruise demand finally back, new research has revealed the top 10 cruise destinations experiencing the biggest increase in popularity.

The team at Slingo has analyzed Google search data, Tiktok views, Instagram posts and cruise reviews to reveal the most popular cruise destinations. The research has also revealed the most and least expensive cruise lines.

The top 10 cruise destinations with the biggest increase in Google search volume:

Tiktok’s most popular cruise destination goes to the Caribbean, with 63.6 million views as of May 2023. The Caribbean has also been crowned Instagram’s most popular cruise destination with 147,976 posts on the app.

According to Slingo, the most affordable cruise lines are:

3. Celebrity Cruises

The most expensive cruise lines, according to the study, are:

1. Ponant Cruises
2. Scenic Ocean Cruises
3. Silverseas Cruises

The Atlantic Islands have been crowned the cruise destination with the biggest increase in popularity, with Google searches surging 250% between 2022-2023.

Following in second place is the Norwegian Fjords, with searches for the destination increasing by 235%. This is a popular option for those who want to have a chance of glimpsing the Aurora Borealis.

The cruise destination with the third highest increase in popularity is the Italian Riviera, with Google searches having nearly doubled in the last year. The crescent-shaped stretch of the Mediterranean has breathtaking cliff views, shimmering turquoise coves and quaint fishing villages, as well as some resort areas.

Positioned in that sweet spot—a ship that’s neither too small nor too large—Oceania Vista made its debut this month in the Mediterranean, complete with a christening extravaganza featuring the ship’s godmother, celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis, and a musical performance by Harry Connick, Jr. 

The seventh vessel in the Oceania Cruises’ fleet and the 20-year-old cruise line’s first new build since 2012’s Oceania Riviera, 1,200-passenger Oceania Vista features elevated contemporary design notable for a sophisticated blend of patterns and textures in a palette that’s neutral but never boring. Oceania, which increasingly refers to itself as “upper premium,” has also evolved its onboard dining and mixology concepts (including the addition of truly beautiful glassware and dinnerware in bars and restaurants) and given its spacious staterooms (most are 290 square feet) and suites (which range from 440 to 2,400 square feet) glamorous residential-inspired décor, 1,000-thread-count sheets, and some of the best-designed bathrooms at sea. 

And, of course, there are the terrific island-hopping itineraries available for 2023, 2024, and early 2025.

What to Expect Onboard

What’s familiar and what’s new aboard this first Allura Class ship? While guests who’ve sailed on 1,250-guest Oceania Marina and Oceania Riviera will find many similarities in layout, the interior décor of Vista by Miami-based Studio DADO gives this new ship an enhanced feeling of modernity and spaciousness. The Grand Staircase with its floor-to-ceiling, pillar-style crystal chandelier welcomes guests, who may quickly decide that the adjacent Martinis bar on deck 6 will be favorite hangout. Reimagined with shimmering glass and photogenic gold walls featuring geometric and brand-centric “O” motifs along with sculptural chairs and sofas that manage to be both aesthetically striking and comfortable, Martinis is a social hub for pre- and post-dinner cocktails.

The Founders Bar is a new beverage concept on Vista, focused entirely on the art of the cocktail and featuring a unique selection of bourbons and ryes in addition to tableside preparation of cocktails and spirits—if only the space, which feels under-designed in comparison to the rest of the ship, was equally sophisticated. Passenger-favorite Horizons, a bar/lounge located forward on deck 14, remains the space to relax with a good book on a sea day or dance the night away to a live band or DJ. 

Oceania positions itself as a cruise line for foodies and its culinary offerings are quite well-rounded, with 11 complimentary dining venues, three of them completely new and exclusive to Vista. Vegetarians and vegans, however, may find their choices are more limited on a la carte dining menus than on some other cruise lines.

Returning specialty restaurants include Polo Grill (for steakhouse cuisine), Toscana (for Italian, with two exclusive menu items by Giada De Laurentiis, including a seriously addictive Signature Capri-Inspired Lemon Spaghetti), and Red Ginger (for pan-Asian menus). New aboard Vista is Ember, a space with a vaulted brick ceiling and a contemporary American menu that’s heavy on steak and seafood (including burgers, Cobb salads, crab cakes, and lobster mac ‘n cheese), and Aquamar Kitchen, which offers wellness-focused menus for breakfast (acai berry energy bowls. avocado toast, blueberry chia yogurt) and lunch (slow-roasted organic salmon with quinoa and yellowfin tuna tacos with cabbage slaw). 

Baristas, a complimentary coffee bar with sweeping ocean views and barista-served cappuccinos and lattes, adjoins the new Bakery serving French and Italian pastries (the Nutella-filled beignets are decadent). Both are close to the cozy and inviting Library, which is stocked with books and board games.

Rounding out the dining options are The Grand Dining Room, which has been redesigned with a visually captivating palette of white-on-white accented by gold tones and luxe hand-painted murals; Terrace Café, the buffet option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; and Waves Grill, a poolside casual eatery with grilled burgers and sandwiches. 

Guests can also book (at an added cost) the new Cellar Master’s Classic lunch, a six-course culinary indulgence featuring wine pairings of some of the ship’s premium vintages, including an excellent Cote de Beaune from Burgundy paired with fresh burrata and a Super Tuscan served with roasted Chateaubriand. Vista, like her sisters Marina and Riviera, also has an onboard Culinary Center, but this one is twice as large with 24 individual stations where guests can take cooking classes. Also new: an adjacent restaurant where the prepared dishes can be enjoyed.

The ship’s chic Pool Deck features shady alcoves with day beds and comfy seating, plus a pool and two hot tubs, while the Aquamar Spa Terrace (for guests who book a treatment in the Aquamar Spa or who are staying in Concierge Veranda Staterooms or Suites) is a quiet spot with sun loungers, two hot tubs, and a warm mineral-water jetted relaxation pool. 

Guests with a creative streak can take lesson from the artist in residence in the Artist’s Loft. There’s also a fully equipped fitness center and a Sports Deck with a pickleball court and a mini-golf course. If you love to keep up with friends on social media or need to do some work while aboard, Vista features Starlink satellite technology and the Wi-Fi is super-fast, a rarity at sea.

Where Can You Island Hop on Vista?

Oceania Vista will spend summer 2023 cruising the Mediterranean, with most sailings already sold out or waitlisted, although there are some staterooms available on select sailings. The ship will then make an 18-night transatlantic voyage from London to New York in late August. 

After Arriving in Miami in mid-October, the ship will cruise two Panama Canal transits from Miami to Los Angeles and vice versa, before embarking on a series of 10-to-22-night Caribbean itineraries. These include a 12-night Caribbean Wanderlust sailing roundtrip from Miami in November 2023 that calls on eight islands: Puerto Rico, St. Barths, Domenica, Barbados, Grenada, St. Lucia, Antigua, and the Bahamas.

Vista will return to the Med in April 2024 and one of its most island-intensive itineraries is the 20-night Mediterranean Poetry sailing (May 1–20, 2024) from Venice to Rome that visits eight islands (Hvar, Corfu, Crete, Santorini, Mykonos, Kos, Malta, and Sicily) as well as Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Athens, and other coastal ports. Two shorter options: the 11-night Cradle of the Ancients itinerary (May 21–June 1, 2024) from Rome to Jerusalem and calling on Sicily, Santorini, Rhodes, and Cyprus, and the 10-night Portal to Antiquity (Sept 3-13, 2024) from Athens to Rome and calling on Mykonos, Rhodes, Malta, and Sicily. For an island bonanza, there’s the 27-night Cultural Constellation sailing (Sept. 23–Oct. 20, 2024) from Lisbon to Athens that visits 11 islands: Madeira, La Palma, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Corsica, Sardinia, Malta, Sicily (three times: Catania, Palermo and Messina), Corfu, Santorini, and Mykonos. 
If a three-month escape during the cold winter months is something you’d enjoy, Vista will sail a 90-night Ultimate Snowbird Paradise voyage (Jan. 8–April 8, 2025) that will call on more than two dozen island ports in the Caribbean—from St. Barth, Domenica, and Guadeloupe to Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao—as well as ports in Central American and Mexico.

When the Virgin Group first threw its hat into the already competitive cruise industry with the launch of Virgin Voyages in 2014, the conglomerate envisioned something different. Whereas some cruise lines target older couples or families, the brand sought out a younger, hipper demographic that might not have otherwise considered cruising as a vacation destination. After all, how many cruise ships come equipped with an onboard record store, personal hammocks on stateroom balconies, and boxing equipment scattered across decks?

Now, Virgin Voyages has taken its rock star reputation a step further by curating a “one-of-a-kind” package with its Chief Entertainment and Lifestyle Officer Jennifer Lopez. The Limitless Voyage aboard the Scarlet Lady, the brand’s inaugural cruise ship, offers a unique VIP experience focused on celebrating and empowering women. In addition to the Lady’s other features, guests opting for the Limitless Package were also invited to participate in TED Talk-inspired seminars, “zen-inducing” wellness programming, uplifting dining experiences, and entertainment and fitness classes set to Jlo’s style.
Unfortunately, Lopez had to cancel a planned appearance to wish sailors bon voyage. But even without getting to bask in her glowy presence, there was certainly plenty of value to be gleaned from the very first Limitless Voyage, which recently sailed out of Miami from April 14-19. (The experience is made even better if you sneak down to South Florida for a day or two of land fun, especially when staying at InterContinental Miami.)

The daily morning seminars were crafted to connect with women who experience all too familiar struggles in their lives and careers. Panelists including What Not to Wear co-host Stacy London, Spartina Productions president Carrie Byalick, Expectful CEO and co-founder Nathalie Walton, Rei of Light founder Rei Chou, Latina entrepreneur Beatriz Acevedo, and FabFitFun co-founder Katie Rosen shared stories from their own personal journeys on topics detailing how they overcame the fear of risks, imposter syndrome, and maintaining a work-life balance. (The latter is a trick question—it’s impossible!) Participants found the sessions so enlightening that a Facebook group was even created to stay connected after the sailing.

Other activities exclusive to Limitless Voyage guests included The Class, a blend of cardio, strength training, and guided meditation hosted by fitness coaches Natalie Kuhn and CJ Frogozo, designed to restore balance. On the final night of the sailing, Chou hosted The Feast, an event which she also founded, at the ship’s trattoria Extra Virgin. The immersive dining experience was designed to build meaningful connections and share stories over intimate dinner conversation. In addition to a newfound sense of fulfillment, dinner guests walked away with the gift of a sodalite crystal to empower their truth, sense of self, authority, and expression.

But with ports in Puerto Plata and Bimini, there was also fun to be had along the way, beyond the classes and seminars. Limitless Package sailors were given an option of several “Shore Things” or excursions during the day in Puerto Plata, in which they got to choose from surf lessons at Cabarete Beach, participating in a recycled art project with a local women’s co-op, or exploring the lush waterfalls of Damajagua. I chose the latter option, which involved jumping or sliding from death-defying (or at least it felt that way) heights into crystal-clear, freshwater pools. Because our group was made up of all women who were part of the Limitless Package, the empowerment mantra seemed to bleed over into the excursion, as the group rallied and cheered for those of us who were, shall we say, a bit more apprehensive of some of the steeper drops.

In Bimini, on the other hand, sailors of the Scarlet Lady were welcome to spend the day at Virgin’s exclusive Beach Club. With an expansive, lagoon-like pool, six bars, and ample beachfront seating, guests could relax and take in the sun with a drink in hand. Lunch was served from dual food groves serving up international bites such as coconut curry chicken, fresh local fish, Mexican-style elote, and naturally, rum cake—because it is the Bahamas, after all.

However, even those who didn’t indulge in the Limitless Package were sure to have a blast aboard the Scarlet Lady. If you’ve never experienced a Virgin Voyages cruise before, it is indeed different than your typical cruise.

Perhaps the biggest distinguishing factor between Virgin Voyages and other cruise lines is the food and beverage programs. Instead of paying upfront for pricey drink packages, Virgin employs a pay-as-you-go system using prepaid “Sailor Loot”—the brand’s cheeky way of defining onboard credit. There are likewise no buffets to be found on Virgin ships. Though some grab-and-go options are available, the closest answer is The Galley food hall, which serves a variety of domestic and international fare from eight different shops and food truck-style carts, including all-day breakfast, bento boxes, burgers, noodle soup bowls, tacos, and more.

And with over 20 specialty eateries aboard the Scarlet Lady, you also won’t pay extra to eat at some of the more upscale spots on the ship. Reservations are first come, first serve, and guests are discouraged from dining at the same spot more than once with a wait list policy, but the restaurants on board are open to all sailors. And honestly, with so many fantastic options, there’s no reason to frequent the same restaurant more than once.

Even during a five-night sailing, it was impossible to try every restaurant onboard—although I certainly did try! Highlights included Gunbae for lively Korean BBQ cooked right at your table with obligatory flowing soju; the stylish Mexican restaurant Pink Agave, where those brave enough can sip on a mezcal cocktail garnished with real crickets; The Wake, for high-end steaks and seafood; and Virgin Voyages’ signature restaurant Razzle Dazzle, a primarily plant-based affair serving up fun options such as “unicorn toast” and a popcorn old fashioned. (Yes, it actually comes in a popcorn box!)

But if there’s one can’t-miss dining experience onboard, that would have to be The Test Kitchen, Virgin’s take on high concept, modern cuisine, which—true to its name—is an experimental-style restaurant that’s described as part cooking school and part eatery. In place of a traditional menu, the meal consists of six set courses (diners are given a choice from a few main course options) with ambiguous names such as “corn,” “salmon,” and “beetroot.” Standout dishes involved a corn pate served with bread for spreading (I’m not ashamed to admit a good deal went straight from plate to mouth) and an asparagus sorbet palate cleanser before the dessert course.

It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Virgin Voyages also takes an unconventional approach to entertainment. Many of the shows have a decidedly more intimate feel than typical cruise ships and some might even be a bit too bawdy for older, more conservative sailors. Drag queens host brunch at Razzle Dazzle and karaoke at the Social Club Diner, which slings carnival fare such as hot dogs and milkshakes by day. 

The largest entertainment venue aboard the Scarlet Lady is the aptly named Red Room, which boasts modular seating and a stage that can be moved across three separate configurations, such as one in which the stage moves during the show. I was lucky enough to take in the “Dual Reality” show one evening, an hour-long Romeo and Juliet-inspired story performed by The 7 Fingers, an innovative circus collective that blends acrobatics with theater for an unforgettable, high-flying experience. Audience members were seated on either side of the stage, which was positioned in the middle, and given color armbands to designate which “side” they were on as the acrobats “dueled” it out onstage using poles, chains, hula hoops, and so on.

Due to the poor weather conditions during our sailing, the festivities for the ship’s eponymous “Scarlet Night” also took place in the Red Room, instead of on the main pool deck, where it usually kicks off under the stars. The ship-wide party features dancers and performers across a wide variety of spaces, where sailors can let their hair down and dance the night away. Eventually, the party makes its way to The Manor, the ship’s Studio 54-style dance club pumping house music and slinging bottle service. But for those who are too exhausted to make it to the afterparty, don’t miss a visit to the trippy, mirrored hallway entrance to The Manor, easily the most Instagrammable spot on the ship.

If you find yourself having such a good time aboard the Scarlet Lady that you want to come home with a souvenir you’ll never forget, visit the onboard tattoo shop, Squid Ink. Starting at $150 for flash sheet tattoos and $250 and up for custom pieces, one of the rotating artists, depending on your sailing, will ink you with a permanent reminder of your trip. Encouraged by the wife of Virgin Voyages CEO Tom McAlpin (though, admittedly it didn’t take much), I went with a delicate pink mermaid flash sheet piece on my inner left ankle. 

Something simple to hold me over until the next trip.

Florida is no stranger to huge cruise ships – Royal Caribbean has parked its behemoth boats off Port Canaveral for years – but now Princess Cruises is getting into the “bigger is better” business by assigning the Sun Princess to Fort Lauderdale.

Currently under construction in Italy, the 175,500-ton, 4,300-guest Sun Princess will offer 7- and 14-day itineraries from Port Everglades beginning in October 2024. The ship – Princess’ largest to date – will spend the first several months doing Mediterranean and Europe cruises before moving to the United States.

If the name “Sun Princess” sounds familiar, that’s because this will be the third ship in the Princess line to use the name. This version will offer guests 29 bars and restaurants, 1,500 balcony cabins, and will be the first Princess ship to be powered by Liquid Natural Gas.

Highlights of the Sun Princess Caribbean season, on sale April 19, 2023, include:

• A 5-day Caribbean Getaway kicks off the Caribbean season with visits to Amber Cove and Grand Turk.
• A 7-day Eastern Caribbean with St. Thomas including a late night in San Juan and a visit to Princess Cays.
• A 7-day Eastern Caribbean with Bahamas visiting Amber Cove, Grand Turk and a visit to Princess Cays.
• A 7-day Western Caribbean with Mexico including stops in Cozumel, Belize City and Roatan.

From the moment you step on board, it quickly becomes apparent that Celebrity Cruises spared no expense in designing Celebrity Beyond, the third ship in the brand’s Edge Series. Like its sister ships (Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Apex) before it, the Beyond is instantly iconic thanks to the prominent blue X perched atop the vessel that cleverly houses her smokestack, a nod to the brand’s Greek heritage.

But while all three ships share some common ties (a fourth ship, Celebrity Ascent, will tentatively be debuting in late 2023), Celebrity went bigger and better with the $1.3 billion Beyond. Not a detail was overlooked, from the opulent Grand Plaza, inspired by Italian piazzas and featuring a stunning three-story chandelier, to thoughtful touches like the wood slats that rest above the pool deck’s cabanas, designed to resemble the waves of the ocean.

Celebrity Beyond also follows suit of the Edge and Apex in choosing another barrier-breaking woman as the ship’s godmother, seven-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles—widely considered the greatest gymnast of all time, who fully encompasses the concept of going “beyond.” Biles joins Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was chosen as godmother of the Edge, and Girls Who Code founder Reshma Saujani, godmother of the Apex.

But beyond (no pun intended) the altruistic inspiration behind Celebrity Beyond, there’s a lot to love on board. I was fortunate to spend seven days on a recent sailing to the Caribbean, and here are some of my favorite features of the ship. Between dozens of world-class dining options, Broadway-worthy entertainment, and chic nightlife, there’s no shortage of things to eat, drink, see, and do.

Renowned Chef Daniel Boulud’s Le Voyage

There’s a distinct emphasis on gourmet dining aboard Celebrity Beyond, which boasts four main restaurants, eight specialty restaurants, and two private dining experiences; along with plenty of casual options found throughout the ship. However, the culinary jewel of the ship is undoubtedly Le Voyage, helmed by world-renowned Chef Daniel Boulud, who also serves as the Global Culinary Ambassador of Celebrity Cruises.

Boulud’s first signature restaurant at sea, Le Voyage’s menu draws global inspiration from the James Beard award-winning chef’s favorite travel locations. Highlights include the sweet and savory Vidalia onion tart, tamarind and peanut-crusted prawns, prime Black Angus filet mignon, and the decadent, lobster-studded risotto au homard.

Even the space itself exudes luxury, with an intimate yet upscale aesthetic designed by the architect-designer team of Sanjit Manku and Patrick Jouin, who are also credited with the Grand Plaza aboard the Beyond and other Edge Class ships. Keeping in theme with the restaurant, Manku, and Jouin conceived the space with myriad cultures in mind, giving it a feel that comes across as old-world yet modern.

A Spotlight on Art and Design

Celebrity Cruises worked with some of the world’s most renowned artists and designers to ensure that every space on the ship emanates artistic style. In fact, Celebrity Beyond boasts an impressive 4,500-piece art collection featuring nearly 700 artists from over 40 countries—not counting the rotating pieces in the art gallery which are up for guest auction. Among the pieces are abundant sculptures found across the ship’s various decks, living botanical works, mosaics, and even art that you can sit in. There’s always something intriguing to catch your eye (or bottom, as the case may be).

Celebrity’s Greek heritage is likewise reflected in the artwork found throughout Beyond, such as the sparkling Homage to Hera peacock statue outside of Cosmopolitan restaurant, hand set with over 28,000 Swarovski crystals; the stunning Aphrodite mosaic inside the Crypus restaurant; and 3-D printed cast bronze sculptures of Apollo, Aphrodite, and Artemis.

However, the most recognizable (and Instagrammable) piece on Beyond is undoubtedly the life-sized sculpture of a white elephant balanced on a man’s back featured prominently on the pool deck. Designed by French sculptor Fabien Merelle’s L’origine, the piece symbolizes the cruise line’s ability to weather the coronavirus pandemic that brought life and cruising as we know it to a screeching halt in 2020. The piece likewise serves as a gentle reminder, even on vacation, that no obstacle is too great for man to overcome.

The Garden of Eden

But even with all the amazing art found throughout the ship, easily the coolest and most chic spot on Celebrity Beyond is the fantastical, multi-level Eden sanctuary. The space, which was originally conceived for the previous two Edge Series ships, hosts Eden Café, Eden Restaurant, and Eden Bar, all of which overlook the ship’s wake from jaw-dropping three-story high windows—the most outward-facing glass found on any other venue at sea.

True to the theme, Eden features a host of botanical artwork, such as the large Blossom Within sculpture from wife-and-husband duo Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz. Featured prominently in the center of the space, the mixed media installation resembles a geode filled with bright silk flowers, which are incidentally the only faux plants found in Eden.

Even the entrance to Eden is a marvel to take in. Guests make their way through the “Journey to Eden” via an interactive art installation called Odyssey, designed by Fredrikson Stallard. After passing through LED screens, guests make their way through a dark, mirrored hallway filled with trippy molten bronze “meteors” that float, suspended in space. Larger bronze pieces rest on the floor and double as seating for the perfect spot to sip on a drink and people-watch.

Ride the Magic Carpet

Another fun Edge Series feature that made its way to Celebrity Beyond is the floating “Magic Carpet” platform that serves as both a dining area and casual bar space, depending on where it’s stationed. Conceived as a collaborative effort between architect Tom Wright and designer Kelly Hoppen, the bright, tangerine-colored platform hovers over the starboard side of the ship, another aspect that makes the ship immediately recognizable, along with the blue X.

But the real magic takes place when the platform, roughly the size of a tennis court, is maneuvered up to 13 stories above sea level, from Decks 2 through 16. When lowered to Deck 5, the Magic Carpet serves as an al-fresco extension to the seafood-focused Raw on 5 restaurant, which serves up delectable sushi and raw bar options.

On Deck 14, the Magic Carpet transforms into a breezy, open-air cocktail lounge adjacent to the pool deck. But you’ll find the most impressive views when the Magic Carpet is elevated to the very top of the ship—beyond the deck areas, even—where, when weather conditions permit, Celebrity Beyond hosts Dinner on the Edge featuring breathtaking panoramic views.

State of the Art Theatre

Entertainment also gets a major upgrade on Celebrity Beyond. The largest on an Edge Class ship, The Theatre integrates the latest technology for a fully immersive experience. Curving around the stage is a 20-foot-tall, 110-foot-wide high-definition LED screen that serves as a backdrop to the performers and enhances their performances with interactive motion graphics. 

Three new stage productions include Arte—keeping with Celebrity’s dedication to putting a spotlight on the arts—which goes on a journey through some of the most famous artists from across the past century, from the iconic works of René Magritte and Vincent van Gogh to riffs on Andy Warhol and Salvador Dalí. The latter even involves an enormous animated Dalí that waves around behind the dancers to a rendition of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance,” as a wink to the surrealist’s tumultuous marriage.

Another new addition to The Theatre is a first-of-its-kind air fountain designed by Brooklyn-based artist Daniel Wurtzel, featured in the Elements stage show. Performers intertwine with large swaths of gravity-defying fabric during the production, which takes the audience on a tour of the five elements: air, water, earth, fire, and ether. 

The Star of the Show, Captain Kate McCue

After becoming America’s first female cruise ship captain in 2015, Captain Kate McCue now helms Celebrity Beyond, where she is, well, a celebrity in her own right. With over a half million followers on Instagram, the charming and charismatic McCue is genuinely beloved by passengers and staff alike. If you happen to catch her passing through Decks 4 or 5, she’ll most likely be swarmed by passengers for selfies, which she is only too happy to oblige. 

Another reason for McCue’s notoriety? She travels the world alongside her trusted companion, a hairless Elf Sphynx cat named Bug Naked, who has a respectable social media following in her own right. Our sailing also just happened to coincide with Bug’s seventh birthday, which she seemed to regard with what can only be described as cat-like levels of enthusiasm.

Expansive Staterooms with Luxury Features

Unlike your average cruise ships, which typically have reputations for micro accommodations and wet bathrooms fit for a contortionist, Celebrity Beyond shines in this area as well. As with the Edge and Apex before it, Beyond boasts expansive, luxurious staterooms featuring the brand’s ultra-comfortable eXhale bedding and cashmere mattresses. Additionally, many staterooms come with spectacular views through the Edge-class Infinite Verandas, which can be lowered halfway to take in the ocean breeze while napping or reading a book.

But for all the comforts of Beyond’s staterooms, one of our favorite features was the ability to control the room using the Celebrity Cruises app. There is nothing cooler than waking up in the morning and not even having to get out of your comfy bed to roll down the blinds to look out on the ocean or turn on the lights (to full brightness or 50 percent, natch) with the push of a button.

Relax in the SEA Thermal Suite

When booking at The Spa, guests are invited to spend time in the SEA Thermal Suite before or after their treatment, which offers eight different nature-inspired therapeutic experiences. Amenities of the SEA Thermal Suite include a rainfall therapy room, heated tile lounge chairs offering panoramic ocean views, an infrared sauna, Turkish hammam, salt room, and even a crystalarium featuring an Amethyst crystal for natural healing and balancing chakras. Like virtually every other space on the ship, the SEA Thermal Suite is thoughtfully designed with sleek, modern touches throughout.

Le Petit Chef at the Le Grand Bistro

Another dining experience aboard Celebrity Beyond that’s not to be missed is Le Petit Chef at the Le Grand Bistro. The Belgium artistic collective Skullmapping has created custom 3D animation that seamlessly choreographs your Michelin Star chef-prepared four-course meal and transforms your dining table into a fully immersive production. True to his name, the tiny Le Petit Chef walks diners through each course, providing the history and background of each dish—such as a delectable slow-roasted heirloom tomato tartlet and savory ​​braised beef short rib with horseradish mash and peas—before servers come swooping in with plates.

If traveling with children, you definitely won’t want to miss out on the experience, though you certainly don’t have to be a kid to enjoy it. Our table of adults was likewise delighted by watching the peppy animated chef bounce us through each course, and naturally, there were plenty of the young at heart excitedly capturing the experience on their phones.
